Escherpark residential development
Sustainable site development
Our building contractor trust department was commissioned to conduct a total service competition for the development of the Escherpark site, covering an area of around 13,000 m². The aim of the study was to compare the options of ‘replacement construction’ and ‘renovation with possible partial new construction’, weigh up their opportunities and risks, and make a recommendation for future use.
In terms of a long-term investment strategy, the replacement new build option was chosen.
Taking housing needs into account
Construction of the first stage began in May 2012 and the second stage was completed in September 2015. The new concept for the “Escherpark” residential development has been well received by the market. All apartments in the 11 stand-alone buildings were rented out thanks to a suitable marketing concept and a range of apartments and living space tailored to requirements. The careful positioning of the buildings restructures the development's outdoor space and creates a differentiated sequence of open spaces. All buildings are directly connected to the underground parking garage. Although the development introduces a leap in scale due to the densification of the neighborhood, the staggered heights of the individual buildings and the spatial protrusions of the street into the new development make it possible to connect with the existing buildings.
The replacement buildings were constructed in solid construction with a timber façade. Floor-to-ceiling glazing opens up the living/dining rooms to the park. Loggias with glazed balustrades support the generous opening.
The residential development is Minergie Eco certified. The greenproperty Gold seal of approval is being sought.
