The recipe for success for real estate investors

The intensive week “Real Estate Summer School 2016” organized by the Institute of Financial Services Zug IFZ of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts provides the necessary specialist knowledge in a targeted and practical manner to identify and realize potential returns on real estate investments. All strategic and operational areas of real estate asset management are examined in a structured manner and analyzed using selected practical cases from the areas of strategy, transaction/portfolio management, reporting and controlling.

During this training programme, course participants learned and tested the necessary know-how to identify and interpret key value drivers in practice, to critically analyze and reposition existing properties in a targeted manner, to make successful investment decisions and to ensure above-average real estate performance in the long term.

During this intensive week, Steven Bruinsma, Senior Advisor Corporate Services, gave a keynote speech to show the students how cooperation and the structuring of areas of activity with property owners is organized from the perspective of a service provider and what challenges need to be overcome.

The focus was on the following areas:

  • Challenges for real estate owners in Switzerland - Why outsourcing?
  • Role of the service provider using the example of Wincasa and contractual relationship
  • Key management figures using the example of the «Vacant space management»
  • Strategic dialog management - portfolio analysis with alternative courses of action
  • Client acquisition - acquisition process

Among other things, the participants learned to better understand the mindset and perspective of a real estate service provider, to look at the cooperation with the owner from a slightly different angle, to use the key performance indicator system as a basis for strategic decisions using the example of “vacant space management” and to be able to assess the current and future challenges between owner and service provider in a more differentiated way.

Our Corporate Services team will be happy to answer your questions and provide further information.
