Master builder's house on the Zürichberg
Zurich's master builders' houses still characterize the urban landscape in certain residential areas of the city on the Limmat, such as Fluntern. After the demolition of the baroque redoubts, they were built in large numbers on the vacated areas at the transition between the city and the countryside. Built from the middle of the 19th century according to plans by unknown architects, they bear witness to the prosperity and growth of the city at that time.
Together with TK Architekten from Zurich, Wincasa was able to carefully renovate one of these special houses in keeping with its listed status.
Contemporary and high-quality renovations
The master builder's house at Plattenstrasse 34 at the foot of the Zürichberg is characterized by its clear cubature and simple elegance, according to the inventory report of the monument preservation authorities. A complete balcony extension was added to the south façade without affecting the defining elements of the listed architecture. In the course of the refurbishment, the floor plan was adapted and the interiors were brought up to a contemporary and high-quality standard. The staircase was restored to its original state in close consultation with the Zurich heritage authorities.
A unique view over the city
The residential property consists of a main house with five apartments and a separately developed extension with a multi-storey 2.5-room apartment. Thanks to the upgraded roof terrace, the penthouse apartment on the upper floor offers a unique view over the city. The
Wincasa Construction & Facility Management is proud to have not only handed over the building to the owner on time and on budget, but also to have made a contribution to the preservation of Zurich's heritage buildings.
