“No two days are alike”
For five years now, Geraldine Stocker has been working in Olten as an administrator for commercial real estate. What does she like most about the job? And how has the TOM changed her job profile?
Geraldine, tell us exactly what you do.
I am mainly responsible for managing and developing commercial properties. This also means I am responsible for assisting our tenants, for making sure our properties retain their value, and for organising maintenance and renovation projects. I also manage letting processes, negotiate leases and work closely with a number of service companies and partners. Budget planning and reporting are also a regular part of the job so that we stay on track with our financial targets.
What do you like about your job?
Most of all, the variety. No two days are alike, because I handle commercial and technical issues. Direct contact with tenants and the ability to enhance our property values by managing them for the long term are also very motivating. I also love finding solutions together with the team and approaching projects with the big picture in mind. The real estate industry is constantly changing, and that’s what makes my job so exciting and challenging.
What's most important to you in your job?
I place great value on working with sustainable, client-focused methods. In other words, I serve the interests of the owners as well as the tenants, and strike a balance that adds up to a win-win for the long term. Transparency and honest communications play a key role in this regard. I am very focused on efficient work organisation and on adhering to environmental and sustainability guidelines as far as possible, especially when it comes to maintenance and renovations for commercial properties.
What do you like about the new team structure under the TOM?
Since the TOM was rolled out, some of the property responsibilities have changed. I now have a portfolio that is almost exclusively focused on commercial properties. Clear assignment of responsibilities and the new structures mean we can work more efficiently and focus more on our core competencies. The model also fosters cooperation among various departments, which helps information flow more quickly and accelerates decision-making processes. This makes our team much more agile and flexible; we can respond more quickly to changes and together, we can develop the best options and solutions not only for tenants but for owners as well,
What do you appreciate about Wincasa as an employer?
What I like most about Wincasa is the corporate culture and the numerous opportunities for development. The company emphasises further education, which allows me to advance professionally and personally. We have flat hierarchies, so the workplace atmosphere is very pleasant and motivating. I also really love the flexibility we have with working hours and locations.
Geraldine is a dog lover and spends a lot of time with her four dogs in her garden. And that’s not all: As a trained military dog handler, she and her German shepherd Acen vom Wild and Fire work with the Swiss Army, which allows her to combine her love for dogs with an important role. When she's not on the trail with her four-legged friends, she loves to sing, including on stage for Wincasa's 25th anniversary.
